Whats in a name?
Not That Keane came about after years of trying to find a catchy social handle. While it is a play on the phrase “I’m keen” that I’ve encountered heaps in Aotearoa, there is another meaning as well. There happen to be many famous artists with the last name “Keane”, and I’ve floated the question, “Are you related?” too many times to count. Margaret Keane (painter), Glen Keane (Disney animator), the band Keane (they’re amazing)…the list goes on! So while I’m not related to any of those Keanes, I did want to pay homage to them and the influence they have had on my artistic career. ❖
